Elsie was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, David Hicks.
She was an executive secretary in Civil Service for 30 years. In her retirement, she loved to paint and garden, especially her orchids. She was a charter member of the Navarre Elkettes, since 1995. She was also a life member of Beta Sigma Phi.
Elsie is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Leo C. Allen, Sr.; her son, Kenneth A. Smith, of Mission Viego, CA; her step-children, Cathy A. Moody (Dean) of Tupelo, MS, Leo C. Allen, Jr. (Debbie) of Jupiter, FL, and Carol A. Hicks (Robert) of Mary Esther, FL. She was the loving grandmother of 10 grandchildren; and her lovely and obedient schnauzer, Mitzi.
Elsie's earthy remains will be cremated according to her wishes. Memorial services will be held at Lewis Funeral Home, Navarre Chapel, 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2005. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. with Lewis Funeral Home, Navarre Chapel directing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Covenant Hospice, 111 Hart Street, Niceville, FL 32578, in Elsie's memory.
