Mrs. Frank Carney, 74, 228 S. Wisconsin St., died unexpectedly Wednesday morning in Mercy Hospital where she had been admitted Friday for a checkup. The former Katherine Andrews, daughter of Frank and Mary Goodman Andrews, was born Sept. 25 1890, in Janesville and had been a resident of this city all her life. She was married to Frank E. Carney April 2, 1913, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Rev. W. A. Goebel officiating. Her husband died March 17, 1960. During World War II, she was employed at the fuze plant of the Parker Pen Co., and worked with the Red Cross as a volunteer. She served on the election board for many years, was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its Married Ladles Sodality, the Catholic Woman's Club. Fireman's Auxiliary and during the war, the Marine Corps Auxiliary. Survivors are four sons, Richard and Thomas, both of Janesville. Robert, Tomah, and Francis Carney, Los Angeles, Calif.; 25 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Edward Hampel, Janesville, and Mary Andrews, Fort Atkinson. Her husband, two brothers, two daughters and a son preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Nelson-Schneider Funeral Home and at 10 o'clock in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Msgr. E. J. Beck officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday afternoon and evening. The Catholic Woman's Club Rosary will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, the parish Rosary at 8 p.m. Friday.
