Oxford - Funeral services for Evelyn McLeod Andrews, 96, of Oxford, will be held Thursday, June 6, 2013, at noon at Forestlawn Mausoleum with the Reverend Buddy Nelson officiating.

Her family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 - 11:30 a.m. at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs.

Evelyn passed away peacefully at her home in Oxford on June 4, 2013. She was a longtime resident of Calhoun County, where she taught special needs children in the Anniston City School System and later worked for the Alabama Department of Pensions and Securities (DHR) until her retirement in 1980.

A devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Oxford, Evelyn taught the most senior Sunday School class for many years.

She was also an active delivery volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels well into her 80's. Evelyn lived a long life of dedicated service to her church and her family.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Evelyn is survived by one sister, Marjorie McLeod Redden, of Fayetteville, Tenn.; two sons, Robert McLeod Andrews, of Oxford and James Lloyd Andrews (Robin), of Anniston; grandchildren, Michael McLeod Andrews, Haley Andrews Cox (Todd), and James Tyler Andrews; a great-grandson, Andrew Wyatt Cox; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, James J. "Jim" Andrews; her father, Reverend R.T. McLeod; her mother, Balcus Wilson McLeod; stepmother, Irene Peebles McLeod; and her brothers, Purser L. McLeod and Robert Floyd McLeod.
