Cornet, engineer and geologist. He graduated from Moscow University. He took part in World War I, came from the Carpaty mountains to China. In Tianjin, joined the Foreign Legion. In 1927 he left the Legion in the Sahara, and arrived in France. He graduated from the Faculty of Science at Nancy, the Geological Institute in Strasbourg, of the Higher National School of crude oil in Alsace. From 1935 he worked in the Office des Combustibles Liquides, and was sent to Gabon. He took part in World War II in the French army in sub-Saharan Africa. He returned to France in 1955.
