Born in Salem, MA on November 6, 1916, he was the son of the late Paolo and Carmela (Peluso) Angelico. He received his education in public schools in Salem and Hartford.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe on the personal staff of Gen. Raymond W. Barker. Together with his wife, he owned and operated Angelico's Restaurant in New Britain until his retirement.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three devoted sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Barbara of Middle Haddam, Emanuele and Christine of New Britain and Joseph J., Jr. and Charlene of Wethersfield; nine grandchildren, Jeffrey and wife, Colleen Angelico, of Middle Haddam, Lauren and Kristen Angelico of Middle Haddam, Kristen Kelleher of Stafford Springs, Emanuele, Jr. and Joseph John Angelico of New Britain, and Maria, Joseph III and Alexander Angelico of Wethersfield; and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves a sister, Pauline Falotico and husband, John; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Sebastian Angelico, all of Wethersfield. He was predeceased by three brothers, Salvatore, Paul, and Sebastian Angelico.
The funeral is Wednesday, 9:15 a.m., from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours are TODAY, 4-8 p.m., at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friendship Service Center, 241 Arch St., P.O. Box 1811, New Britain, CT 06053.
