WILTON -- Arthur Leonard Ankers, 78, of Wilton, died unexpectedly of natural causes at his home on Friday, Sept. 4, 2009. He was born June 14, 1931, in Portland, the only child of Arthur R. and Ada (Hood) Ankers. He received his education in Turner schools and was a veteran, having served in the Army as a corporal during the Korean conflict. On June 15, 1951, he married Georgie Cochran in Wilton.
He is survived by his best friend and wife of 58 years, Georgie of Wilton; a son, Peter Ankers of Wilton; two grandsons, Achelas P. Ankers of Weld and Ashlan A. Ankers of Wilton; and a special niece, Julie Stoddard of Addison. He was predeceased by a daughter, Pamela D. "Pammie" Ankers, who died in 1972.
Public memorial graveside services with full military honors will be held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at Lakeview Cemetery, Wilton. (Morning Sentinel 9/8/2009)
