Alpha E. Ankrom Jr., 61, of Maxwell Community, St. Marys, WV, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at the family residence.
He was born May 15, 1948, in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Alpha E. Ankrom and Inez Grimes Ankrom Simmons. He was a 1966 graduate of Pennsboro High School and had been employed for 27 years by Top Drilling Co., working out of Smithville, WV, office as a tool pusher. He was a Christian by faith.
Surviving are his wife, Rella K. Hardbarger Ankrom, whom he married in 1969; two sons, Everett Ankrom of St. Marys and John Ankrom of Pennsboro; two sisters, Alice Hardbarger of Harrisville, WV, and Madylon Ankrom of Cairo, WV; two halfbrothers, James Simmons Jr. of Parkersburg, WV, and Joseph Simmons of Cairo; and two grandchildren, John and Jason Ankrom.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were a son, Alpha Ankrom III; a brother, Everret Ankrom; and a sister, Linda Kocher.
Services were held Tuesday Dec. 1st, at McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, with Pastor James Taylor and the Rev. Franklin Smith officiating. Internment followed in the Masonic Cemetery at Ellensboro, WV.
