"Johanna Jansje (Anneke) de Sterke

JOHANNA JANSJE (ANNEKE) DE STERKE SEP 26, 1936 - MAY 29, 2011 Johanna Jansje (Anneke) de Sterke left this earth to be with her Savior and Lord on May 29, 2011. She was born in Hendrik-Ido Ambacht in the Netherlands on September 26, 1936 and experienced WWII under Nazi yoke. She got her RN in Rotterdam with a minor in Reformed Theology.

In 1960 she followed her fiance, Herman de Sterke, to Switzerland where she worked in Uster and in 1961 she got married to him. They had three children, Saskia, Roeland and Brechtje, but she always wanted six. In 1967 the whole family moved to Washington State where her husband worked for Boeing. Later they moved to the Bay Area, Ohio, and back to California in 1998 to Ripon.

Wherever she lived she was active in the church, she was a deacon and an elder in the Presbyterian Church USA. She loved a good debate and her door was always open for strangers and animals. Her love for the Lord was contagious and she left her mark. She battled various illnesses, but lung cancer defeated her, however she never lost her cheerfulness and her zest for life.

Later in life she got her wish for six children granted when her children married Richard Drysdale, Karen Prouty, and Hugo Harrewyn; she loved them all, including her grandchildren Garrit, Kyle, Arie, and Marina.

Graveside service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 10:00 am at Ripon Cemetery. Her Memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church. Arrangements by Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel; there is an online guest book available for you to send your condolences to the family at: www.modbee.com/obituaries www.deeganfuneral chapels.com
