ENTERPRISE- Ilene M. Ansberry, 86, died Sunday, July 4, 2010, at the Enterprise Estates Nursing Center in Enterprise.
She was born Nov. 29, 1923, near Enterprise, the daughter of Otto H. and Cora E. (Apperson) Mills. Growing to womanhood, she attended local schools, graduated from Chapman High School and attended Kansas State University to earn her teaching certificate. For 10 years she taught in one room schools.
On Aug. 9, 1953, she married Johnnie G. Ansberry. All of their married life was spent farming south of Abilene. He preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 2004.
Survivors include her two daughters, Carolyn Mowery of Berryton and Jeanette Mitchell of Tecumseh; two sons, Gary Ansberry of Larned and Richard Ansberry of Abilene; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Lee Mills and Wayne Mills, both of Abilene, and Marvin Mills of Chapman.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, at the Danner Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Craig officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, south of Enterprise.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, at the Danner Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Elsie Brooks Cancer Fund and left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home, P.O. Box 758, Abilene, KS 67410.
