Betty Applegate of Muskogee, Oklahoma was born to Julus Edgar and Minerva (Russell) Myers in Spiro, Oklahoma on January 10, 1911 and she died on Saturday, August 6th, 2011 in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the age of 100 years, 6 months and 27 days. Betty was the fourth of nine children. She married Ted Lee Applegate on November 25th, 1930 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma and they had four wonderful children. The most important thing in Betty's life was her family. Two of her children, Bill and Ruby, provided Betty with six generations of family. She enjoyed making quilts and gardening and she was a member of the Commanders Club of the DAV. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Applegate. Two sons, Bill Applegate, Sr., T.D. Applegate and one daughter, Ruby Maureen Battenfield. She was also preceded in death by one great granddaughter, Rachael Ann Goodson. She is survived by her son, Danny Applegate of Muskogee, Oklahoma. One sister, Ruby Workman of Okmulgee, Oklahoma. One daughter-in-law; Sherry Applegate of Muskogee, Oklahoma. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends who will be sure to miss her. The family wishes to express their appreciation to York Manor Nursing Home and Cornerstone Hospice of Tulsa for the care they provided for Mrs. Applegate. Viewing and visitation for Betty will be held at Shipman's Muskogee Funeral Service Chapel located at 1325 North York Street in Muskogee. Visitation hours will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 9th, 2011. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 10th, 2011 at the Greenhill Cemetery in Muskogee with the Reverend George Carter, officiating. Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Shipman's Muskogee Cremation & Funeral Service of Muskogee, Oklahoma.
