A well known resident of Galesburg and for many years an employee of Burlington shops was struck by an engine at Burlington crossing at Chambers and Mulberry. It caused his death within a few minutes. He was born on a farm in Gerdheus Forsamberg, Erfsberg, Lan Sweden. When a mere boy his father died leaving him sole support of his mother and six younger brothers and sisters. Soon after his fathers death his mother moved the family to Trollhatten, Sweden where he grew to manhood. Came to America June 1892 direct to Galesburg. Employed by CB&Q the permanent air brake department and for the past nine years a foreman. Married on June 23,1893 Anna Hammerland. They had one son. He was active member of Emmamuel church and member of the board of stewards, and delegate to two last laymens convention. For the last 2 years represented the church in the Federated Brotherhood Council. Member of Scandavian Lodge IOOF, was Past Noble Grand, Charter member of Vasa Lodge IOS,MWA.
