ALRED, Anita Lorene Appleton
GRENADA - Anita Lorene Appleton Alred, 83, died Monday, January 23, 2006, at Grenada Lake Medical Center.

Services were Thursday at Friendship Baptist Church. Burial was in Oddfellows Cemetery. Brother Jim Matheny, Brother Johnny Dinas and Dr. Bob Self officiated. Garner- Harper Funeral Home had charge.

Alred was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and Friendship Baptist Church and a member of Women's Missionary Union for many years. She taught Sunday school and worked with the Girls' Auxiliary in churches and did volunteer work with needy children.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Fulton Alred; six brothers, Glendon Appleton, William F. Appleton, Clarence Appleton, Jack Appleton, Charlie Appleton and Otha Appleton; six sisters, Magdalene Brown, Mildred Cain, Polly Wilson, Lois Hanks, Elizabeth Scruggs and Rena Mae Beavers.

Survivors include one daughter Patricia Alred Smedley of Grenada; one sister Maudie Haley of Oxford; numerous nieces, nephews and several cousins. Memorials may be made to either Emmanuel Baptist Church or Friendship Baptist Church or to donor's choice.
