A.J. Appling of Kingsbury, Texas, died July 8, 2002, at the age of 84.

He attended Prairie Lea High School and was a member of the Benton McCarley Post-Life of the American Legion. He established the DAV Chapter in Seguin and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and 36 Division.

Survivors are his wife, Mercedes Appling of Kingsbury; two nieces and two nephews.

Funeral services will be held in the Appling Cemetery at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2002.

Burial will be in the Appling Cemetery under the direction of O'Bannon Funeral Home.
