Antonio Arcaro, 85, of 6426 Carson Drive, East Syracuse, died Tuesday at his home after a long illness.
A native of Italy, Mr. Arcaro lived 25 years in the East Syracuse area. He retired in 1967 as a labor foreman after 40 years with Dawson Brothers Construction Co. Mr. Arcaro was a former president of Local 333 of the Building Laborers Union.
Mr. Arcaro was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and a member of its Holy Name Society.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Sgroi; a son, Anthony J. Jr. of East Syracuse; two daughters, Filomena Wierzbicki of Minoa and Mary Martino of Mattydale; six stepsons, Paul of Florida, Frank of Solvay, Samuel of Syracuse, Richard of Westvale, James of Liverpool and Charles Sgroi of Cato; a sister in Italy, 40 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 9:15 a.m. Friday at Forani & Cline Funeral Home, East Syracuse, and 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 206 Kinne St.
