Angelo N. Arcaro, 89, of Pennington died Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Indeprete, Isernia, Italy, he resided in Princeton for over 61 years before moving to Pennington three years ago.

Mr. Arcaro served in the Italian Army during World War II for over three years, before being captured as a Prisoner of War for three years. While a Prisoner of War, Mr. Arcaro cooked for the American Troops, as well as Generals Montgomery and Eisenhower.

In 1954, he established Arcaro Construction Company as a masonry/concrete contractor, and later built several homes throughout Princeton. He later became vice president of A.W. Arcaro Construction Company, a company started by his son in Arizona.

Son of the late Salvatore and Filomena (Forte) Arcaro, father of the late Nicholas J. Arcaro, and brother of the late Antonio Arcaro.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Carmela M. (Forte) Arcaro; his devoted children, Anthony W. Arcaro, Robert J. Arcaro and his wife Marie, Angelo N. Arcaro Jr., Salvatore Arcaro, Margaret Buchanan and her husband Robert, Catherine Shillaber and her husband David. A; brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Josephine Arcaro; a sister, Rosina Tamburri; 13 cherished grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 from the Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Avenue, Princeton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Church, 214 Nassau St., Princeton. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery.
Friends may call on Wednesday , Nov. 10, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Church, 214 Nassau Street, Princeton, NJ 08542 or Pennington First Aid Squad, P.O. Box 101, Pennington, NJ 08534.
