Adella was the 2nd of 5 children born to Frederick A Senecal & Mary Fredericka Downs. Prior to marriage, she worked as a stenographer. On April 29, 1913, she married Herman Carl Martin Armbruster in New Haven, Connecticut. They had one child Rheta Adella Armbruster, born April 22, 1915, and moved from West Haven, Connecticut to Greenwich to be closer to Herman's job.
Adella was a devout Episcopalian and a member of Christ Church in Greenwich. She was an excellent cook and supreme homemaker. She doted on her grandchildren. Following her husband's sudden death, she remained in the family home on 32 Ridge Street for a few years, but eventually moved in with her daughter's family in Augusta, Maine. Deteriorating health resulted in her being placed in a nursing home where she died as a result of cardiac arrest.
