Patricia Sue Apolzan 61, of Carmel, IN, passed away Sunday June 19, 2011. She was born November 25, 1949 in Richmond, IN to William and Louise Armbruster. She was married to her loving husband John Paul Apolzan of Carmel for over 35 years. Other survivors include her two children, John William Apolzan and wife, Mandy Apolzan of North Augusta, SC and Megan Christine Apolzan of Carmel and one grandchild John William Apolzan, Jr. Patti was a dedicated teacher at Woodbrook Elementary, where she began teaching in 1975. She took a break after her children were born and returned in 1993. She enjoyed spending time with her family, celebrating holidays, and vacationing. She was a graduate of Richmond Senior High School. She received her BS in elementary education from Ball State University in 1972 and earned her MS from Purdue University in 1976. Visitation will be Friday, June 24th from 4 to 8 p.m. in Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center - Carmel, 325 E. Carmel Drive, with memorial services Saturday at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to the Carmel Education Foundation for a student scholarship in her honor or the American Diabetes Society.
