Agatha Spitzmuller Saeger was born in Diersburg Germany as the illegitimate daughter of Gertrud Spitzmuller and later acknowledged and adopted by her father Leopold Saeger. She emigrated to the US in December 1852, married Eduard Armbruster and they had 9 children.
