Bud worked as a carpenter on Shasta Dam, building forms for the concrete blocks that shaped the dam. In late 1942 he joined the U.S. Navy, a Fightin Sea Bee, 78th USN Construction Bn. Oversea deployment was to the South Pacific. In October 1945 he was a part of a construction team that came to Mapleton, Oregon to build the U.S. Plywood Plant.
Virginia joined him later that year and they called it home the rest of their lives. Three sons were born and raised there; Earl, Tim, and Bret. Bud was an active part of the community, the Masonic Lodge, schools, and youth sports. He loved to read his newspaper.
Bud died on April 27, 1988. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Agnes and Mae, and brother Hubert Clayton. He is survived by wife Virginia, sons; Earl,Tim,and Bret, sister Jean, and four grandchildren.
