Mrs. Georgeanna L.F. Appleton's remains, who died in New York, on the 25th instant, arrived in this city on Saturday, by the 2:55 P.M. New York train, and were at once taken to the Old St. Paul's Burying Ground, where they were interred, after funeral services by the Rev. Dr. Rodgers. Mrs. Appleton was the wife of William Stuart Appleton, formerly of Baltimore and the daughter of Lieutenant Colonel George Armistead, U.S. Army. She was the great granddaughter of Christopher Hughes, whose son, for some years, represented the U.S. at the Court of James. She was in her 61st year of age and was born and educated in Baltimore. She married here and only moved to New York about eight years ago. Her father was in command of Fort McHenry when it was bombarded on the 13th of September, 1814, and was afterwards the owner of the original Star Spangled Banner, which was given to her.
