Obituary

Edythe Armstrong of Tarpon Springs, Fla. passed Sept. 29, 2010 after a long illness. She was born Dec. 5, 1929 in Pine Bluff. Ark. to the late Berryman T. Armstrong and Shirley Brazil Armstrong. She is survived by her brother, B.T. Armstrong (Mary), nephew, Kent Armstrong, niece, Aimee (Steve) Long, great-nephews and nieces: Robert, Joseph, Ashlee, Leslee, Emalee and Cecelia Long of Little Rock, Ark. Special friends include her beloved caregiver, Angelia Watson, and a long time friend, John Maroney, M.D. formerly of Massachusetts and Florida who preceded her in death in 2003. Edythe lived a large part of her life in the Worcester, Mass. area before retiring to Florida. She began her career as a flight attendant with PanAm World Airlines which took her to South America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East; an apparel buyer, owner of Village Casual Sportswear; attended Framingham State College and University of Connecticut; earned a BS degree; taught for sixteen years at Assabet Valley Regional High School at Marlborough, Mass.; served on the faculty at Becker College, Worcester; and was a member of World Wings International, Palm Harbor Newcomers Club, and American Assoc. of American Women. There will be a memorial blessing and rosary October 6 at 11 a.m. at the Carmelite Monastery in Little Rock, Ark. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, [West] Roxbury, MA in the Maroney Burial Lot.
