Mrs. Armstrong died Friday, August 4 at the Keystone Care Center in Keystone, IA. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Spencer-Owen Funeral Home in Winnebago and one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.
She was born November 25, 1905 at rural Truman, daughter of Jay and Stella (Dewar) Spencer. She was a graduate of Truman High School in 1924 and Winona State College with a teaching degree. She taught school for ten years and coached plays, oprettas, and drama students. On June 26, 1936 she married Cecil Armstrong at Truman. They moved to Winnebago in 1936. They co-owned and operated the Spencer-Armstrong Funeral Home and Furniture Store until retiring in 1968. Mr. Armstrong preceded her in death in 1983.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, church choir for forty years, taught Sunday school and release time. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, Winona Players Drama Club, Round Table Study Club, and a past member of the Faribault County Human Services Board.
Survivors include one daughter, Priscilla Lien and husband Dean of Cedar Rapids, IA; two granddaughters; one sister-in-law, Muza Spencer of Winnebago.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
