The subject of this sketch was born in Crawford County, Ind. On April 12th, 1839, and crossed the plains with her parents, Mr. And Mrs. Thomas Armstrong in 1852, coming first to Shasta County where they remained but a few months. The family then came direct to Arcata where they located, and built the Armstrong home on the hill, which is among the first houses built in town. Where both parents spent their remaining days. On April 22nd, 1859, she was married to Barry M. Adams in the old home in Arcata, and the couple took their residence in Eureka for the next ten years, where Mr. Adams was engaged in business.
