Friday morning, after being bedfast for two weeks, altho declining in health for more than a year. Mrs. Arndt was ill of general debility due to her advanced age of 81 years, 3 months and 29 days, but also developed pneumonia which hastened her death. She was a daughter of Lieutenant Arnold Lobaugh and Mary (Hartzell) Lobaugh, both prominent families here 50 years ago, the Newport Post G. A. R., having been named in honor of her father. She was born at Greenburg but spent most of her life in Newport where she had lived continuously since 1906 when she removed here from Harrisburg. Mrs. Arndt was a devout Christian and member of the Methodist Church. There survives also 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Arndt possessed a most lovable disposition which endeared her to a large circle of friends and when health permitted she took an active part in church work.
