Maiden, N.C. - Era Mae Arndt Abernethy, 75, of Startown Road in Maiden, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at her residence.
Born Sept. 22, 1932, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph T. and Gladys Burgess Arndt.
A member of First Baptist Church in Lincolnton, she worked with Southern Bell for 15 years and Rosh Laboratories for more than 10 years.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, David Marce Abernethy; a daughter, Pam and her husband, Terry Saine, of Newton; a son, Jeff, and his wife, Anne Bolick, of Plano, Texas; a stepdaughter, Cutine and her husband, Roger Matthews, of Conover; a stepson, Glenn and his wife, Joanne Abernethy, of Newton; a sister, Margaret Reitzel of Newton; five grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah, Alan, Erin and Glenda; and one great-grandson, Luke.
Entombment will follow in Catawba Memorial Park.
