He was wounded and lost an arm on 21 Oct 1861 at The Battle of Ball's Bluff, Leesburg, Virginia.
On 12 Apr 1862 Edmund mustered out of the 15th Massachusetts at Yorktown, York County, Virginia, due to disability.
After the war, Edmund married Flora.
By 1880, Edmund and his wife had moved to Washington, DC. He was enumerated in the 1890 US Federal census, Veteran's Schedule in Jun 1890 at Lincoln Post No 3, Washington, DC, as having served in Co. H, 15th Massachusetts, with the loss of his right arm.
Edmund C. Arnold died on 16 April 1896. He was 56 years, 6 months and 30 days old.
