Gary Reid Arrington was my Nephew who lived in the Rocky Mount, & Elm City, North Carolina area all his short life! He was found to have severe Lung Cancer in May or Jun of 2006 and was not expected to live very long. He died 05 Aug 2006 while in the Nash County Medical Center in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He was only 58 years old. He leaves a wife, Brenda Gay (Quinn) Arington and 1 son Wesley Reid Arrington. He will Lay in Rest at the Bowling Funeral Home in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on Sunday & Monday Aug 6, & 7th of 2006 and Services will be held in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday August 8, 2006. He will be burried at the Rocky Mount Memorial Park cemetery, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina! At least he is no longer suffering!

"Gary Reid Arrington, 58, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2006. He was born January 14, 1948 in Edgecombe County, son of Vesta Elizabeth Mayfield and the Late James Walter 'Shorty' Arrington. He was a graduate of Rocky Mount Sr. High class of 1968. He worked for Gooding, Lewis, and Goetz formerly Haynes Rubber Supply for 20 years. Gary was a longtime advocate and assistant with the Boy Scout Troop 332 of Elm City. He wanted to make sure each child had the opportunity to be active in the Boy Scouts and provided financial assistance to those that needed it. He was an active member of the Elm City Planning Board. Gary was a member of the Liberators Motorcycle Club for 34 years and he enjoyed fishing and camping. He recently became a member of Elm City Missionary Baptist Church by profession of faith. During his illness Gary grew in his faith and his walk with God and was a witness for Him until his death. He is preceded in death by his father, James Walter 'Shorty' Arrington; brother, Thomas Wesley Arrington; stepmother, Joan Warrick Arrington, and his niece Andrea Lamb.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 35 years, Brenda Quinn Arringto of the home; his mother, Elizabeth Luper and husband Charlie of Roanoke Rapids; one son, Wesley Reid Arrington and wife Leigh Anne of Justice, NC; one sister, Cynthia Sewell and husband Michael of Roanoke Rapids; two stepsisters, Betsy Luper of Rocky Mount, Joan Luper Lucas and husband Paul of Rocky Mount; one brother, Douglas Luper and wife Maura of Washington, D.C.; three stepbrohers, Randy Warrick and wife Martha of Aikens, SC, Tommy Warrick and wife Dee of Wilson, Tim Luper and wife Sylvia of Rocky Mount; one grandchild, Anna Grace Arrington. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Bynum and his staff for thier continual concern, support, and love during Gary's Illness and to Hospice of Wilmed for their care and support. And to all Gary's angels on palliative care at Wilson Memorial Hospital."
