Death of Mrs. Arrington
-
Mrs. Annie Maria Arrington, relict of the late W. W. Arrington, died at the home of Hon. W. H. Kitchin on the 18th ult. aged 68 years.

Her maiden name was Miss Alston, of a noted family and well known in this State and other parts of the South. She was the mother of Mrs. C.C.P. Henderson, of Miss., Mrs. W.D. Dunn and Mrs. W.H. Kitchin, of this place.

She leaves 23 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was a consistent member of the Methodist Church, and was a lady of high moral worth and leaves her imprint for good on those with whom she lived. The Democrat tenders sympathy to the bereaved friends and loved ones.
The Commonwealth, 1 August 1889, Page 3
[Scotland Neck, North Carolina]

Notes:
1. Although the tombstone says "Anne" that is the only place I have seen that version of her name. To family, she was known as Anna or Annie, according to family records and my grandmother (who was Anna's great-granddaughter).

2. The stone and our family records agree that she died on the 17th, but the newspaper says it was the 18th.
