Adolphus Buell Arrington, eldest child of Samuel Lafayette and Mamie Valeria Richardson, was born 5 March 1908 in Surry County, NC.

It's interesting to note that when Buel was 22 and single, the 1930 Census records his next door neighbor was Gid and Lucy Law. He married their adopted daughter, Lucy "Ludie" Law on 17 January, 1931. They had 11 children together, 9 of whom survived to adulthood. Gwenda V. and Zelda Vernell died in infancy.

Buell was a farmer in his early years. He became a welder in the shipyards at Wilmington, NC, during World War II. He continued to operate a small engine repair and welding shop in Mt. Airy until his death.

Buell Arrington died 27 March, 2003 at the age of 95. He is buried with Ludie, Gwenda, Zelda, and Kenneth in Woodview Cemetery, Surry County, NC.
