Basil Burley Arthur, 74, of 1000 Wilson St., Dunbar, was dead on arrival at Thomas Memorial Hospital Friday of an apparent heart attack.
Retired report clerk for C&O Railway after 42 years of service, member of First United Methodist Church, Dunbar, Mountain State Lodge of the Brotherhood of Railroad and Steamship Clerks, C&O Railway Veteran Employes Assn., Musician Protective Union, resident of Dunbar 57 years, formerly of Clay County.
Surviving: widow, Lillian Ballard Arthur; daughters, Mrs. Betty Cadle of Melbourne, Fla., Mrs. Janet Elkins of Miami, Fla., Mrs. Patricia Carmen of Scott Depot, Mrs. Barbara Brown of Dunbar, Mrs. Linda Bush of St. Albans; stepdaughter, Mrs. Patricia Holstein of Melbourne, Fla.; brother, Denver of Sondma, Calif.; sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Young, Mrs. Billie Skidmore, Mrs. Coral Lyons and Mrs. Lucille Cochenour, all of Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Tressie White of Gallipolis, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
