Doris Ashby Amidon, 86, of 34 Orchard Rd., Skaneateles, died August 3, 1997 at Community General Hospital. A native of Marcellus, Amidon lived in Skaneateles for 18 years. She worked in several area grocery stores and owned and operated the Marcellus Red & White store for several years. After selling the store, she sold real estate for Skaneateles Reality and worked 10 years at Van Duyn Home and Hospital, retiring in 1975.
Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Howard E; two sons, Vernon of Auburn and Bernard of Skaneateles; a brother, William Ashby of Chittenango; a sister, Bertha Goodfellow of Marcellus; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services were August 7 at Norris Funeral Home, the Rev. Roland Ryan officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Marcellus.
