CATSKILL- Harriet Ashley Nagel, age 93 of Catskill, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2011 at Kaaterskill Care where she had been a resident since Oct. 28, 2010, previously a resident of Home Sweet Home. Mrs. Nagel was born in Chatham on Aug. 3, 1916 to the late Harry and Cora Hatch Ashley. Following her graduation from Chatham High School, she married Rev. Vernon O. Nagel. Together, they served the community and churches of New Hurley Reformed Church, Bethlehem Reformed Church, First Reformed Church in Catskill, Plainview Reformed Church, Cohoes Reformed Church, United Church of Cohoes Presbyterian and lastly returned back to Catskill to serve as calling pastor and conducted interim ministries throughout the area. A gifted musician, she served as organist, soloist, choir director, and pianist throughout her husband's ministry and was a member of the Treble Choraliers in Catskill. She was a former member of the Monday Club and Fortnightly Club as well as past-president of the Classical Union of the Reformed Church and dedicated member of all the churches' Women's Guilds and tireless volunteer to support all their programs and projects. Mrs. Nagel is survived by her son, daughter, ten grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, son-in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her daughter Arlene King, grandson Terry Nagel, and two granddaughters: Lynn Ann Tracy and Joyce Marie Tracy. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. in the Millspaugh Camerato Funeral Home at 139 Jefferson Heights in Catskill with Rev. Vicky Eastland, Pastor of the First Reformed Church officiating. Interment will follow in the former Catskill Rural Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home from 12 to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
