Alex Ashley, 84, a resident of 929 South Water St. and a native of Ogdensburg, died last night at 5:45 (June 22, 1950) in the A. Barton Hepburn Hospital, where he had been a patient the past six weeks.

A son of the late Alexander Ashley and Clara Dishaw,. Mr, Ashley was born in Ogdensburg, Dec. 17, 1865. He was educated in the local schools and at Notre Dame Church in 1883 married the former Miss Lena Daniels, who died a number of years, ago.

In June 1908 he married: the former Miss Minnie Richer at Notre Dame Church, in a ceremony performed by the late Rev. P. O. LaRose.

Surviving his death, besides his wife, are one son by his first marriage, Lawrence Ashley, and the following children by his second marriage: two daughters, Mrs. Edith Perry and Mrs. Ida Bell Dishaw; three sons, Joseph H., William J., and Alex Jr.; two step-daughters, Mrs. George Bryant and Mrs. Howard Bouchey, all of Ogdensburg.

Also surviving are three brothers, Augustus, Henry and Eugene Ashley, Ogdensburg; 24 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr: Ashley was a member of the Notre Dame Church parish.

Funeral services will be held from the Lalonde Funeral Home Monday at 8:30 a.m. and at 9 a.m. from Notre Dame Church.

Burial will be made in the family plot in Notre Dame Cemetery.
