Funeral services for Rev. Charles E. Ashmore, Sr., 58 of Pickens, were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 22 in the chapel of Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City. Officiating ministers were the Rev. Tom HoIlowell and the Rev. Bill Price. Burial was in Ellison in Yazoo County.
Rev. Ashmore died on Wednesday, February 20 of a heart attack at his residence in Pickens.
A native of Columbus, he was a minister in the United Methodist Conference and a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ora Grace Ashmore of Pickens; a daughter, Sharon Ashmore of Vaughan; two sons, Eddie Ashmore of Sumrall and Joe Ashmore of Hattiesburg; four brothers, John Ashmore of Gadsden, Alabama, Gene Ashmore of lndianola, Jimmy Ashmore of West Point and David Ashmore of Columbus; three sisters, Evelyn Odom of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Martha Turner of Vancleave and Emily Spradling of Fulton and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joe Guess, Larry Moore, William Moore, Harrison Moore, John Moore and Bill Alexander.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Methodist Children's Home or other charity organizations.
