Anna Asmundson, 91, Cavalier, formerly of Milton, ND, died Friday, May 18, 2001, in Wedgewood Manor nursing home, Cavalier, ND.

Sigurbjorg Anna Davidson was born October 8, 1909, the daughter of Magnus and Gudrun (Reykjalin) Davidson, in Montrose Township, Cavalier County, ND not far from Gardar, ND. She attended school in Montrose Township. She married Magnus Asmundson on October 14, 1937, in Mountain, ND. In 1957, they purchased the Hartz Grocery Store in Milton, ND, which was then renamed the Asmundson Hartz Store. Magnus Asmundson died Oct. 20, 1973. She continued to run the business until May 31, 1997, when she retired and moved to Cavalier, ND.

She is survived by sons: Roger (Sylvia) Asmundson, Park River, ND and Harland Asmundson, Burbank, CA; daughters: Margaret Rueger, Langdon, ND and Sharon (Jack) Lindsley, Mandan, ND; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Thordis Matthisson, Mountain, ND; a brother, John (Cathy) Davidson, British Columbia; and a sister-in-law, Lillian Davidson, Plymouth, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Magnus; infant son, Kenneth Magnus Asmundson; 6 brothers: Sigurbjorn Davidson, David Davidson, Barney F. Davidson, Halldor Davidson, Hjalmer Davidson, Sigurdur Davidson; and a sister, Kristine Davidson.

Services: Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at the Milton Lutheran Church, Milton, ND.
Burial: Thingvalla Lutheran Cemetery, rural Mountain, ND.
