Dick Asmundson Killed In Two-Car Accident

Amun (Dick) Asmundson, 33, of Tagus, was instantly killed in head-on collision of two cars about 8 miles west of here early Sunday morning. Clarence B. Alvstad, 48, of Tagus, was hospitalized with injuries.

The accident occurred Highway 2 at about 1 a. m. Sunday, When the cars met head on. Asmundson was traveling west and Alvstad east. Both drivers alone in their cars.

Alvstad received a hip injury, a cut on his left arm and body bruises.

This is the second tragic accident to befall the Asmundson family in the past six months. Last December, Richard Asmundson, 29, was killed in a two-car smash-up on Highway No. 2, at the Blaisdell corner. Funeral services held for Mr. Asmundson at 2 p. ln. Wednesday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church near Tagus, and burial was made in the Tagus Cemetery. The Rev. Edwin Peterson of Palermo officiated at the services.

The Thompson-Larson Funeral Home of Minot had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were six nephews, Norris Kiellberg, Thomas Lunde. Ronald Asmundson, Herbert, Kenneth and Verlund Shultz.

Asmun Asmundson was born December 24, 1923 at Tagus, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Knute Asmundson, longtime residents the Tagus area. He had received his education and had lived most of his life in that area. He had served with the U. S. Navy.

He is survived by two brothers, Halvor and Henry Asmundson, and four sister, Mrs. Herb Schultz, Mrs. Joel Kjellberg, Mrs. Fred Shelkey and Nora Asmundson, all of the Tagus area.
