Henry was born December 10, 1918 on the family farm in Ree Township of Ward County to Knute and Aasta Asmundson. He was raised in that area and attended rural school. As a young man he worked for a time on the railroad and then started farming and ranching on the family farm.

He married Elsie Stockdill on December 26, 1941 at Sidney, Montana and they lived on the family farm where they farmed and ranched. They spent winters in Arizona until 1997 when they moved into Minot.

Hank was well known in the area as an independent cattle buyer and for a time he operated the Stanley Livestock Ring.

Hank is survived by his wife Elsie of Minot; daughter Linda Schumaier of Mesa, Az.; sons Ronald Asmundson and his wife Carol of Red Oak, Tx., Tony Asmundson and his wife Faye of Berthold, ND, Knute Asmundson and his wife Maylynn of Granville, ND, and Gregory Asmundson of Payson, Az; sisters Agnes Shulkey of Stanley, ND, Nora Asmundson of Berthold, ND, and Annie Kjellberg of Berthold, ND; grandchildren Ryan, Aaron, Randi, Khristine, Mark, Nick, Brock, Kyle and Kevin; great-grandchildren Joshiah and Kaysea. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Emma; brothers Halvor, Asmund, Richard and Nickoli; and son Guy.

Hank's family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and remembrances. The family will travel to the cemetery at Tagus for the graveside service and then, return, to the church. for a fellowship time.
