A. ASPLUND DIES TODAY: Alward E. Asplund, 58, an employee of the Chicago & Northwestern Railway Co. Since 1909, died early this morning at Grand View Hospital. He had resided at 709 Hedin Ave.

Born March 30, 1894, in Ironwood, Mr. Asplund began his railroad career as a section foreman in 1909. He later advanced to road master, a position he held for four years, before becoming a machinist's helper in the roundhouse seven years ago. Mr. Asplund had been in ill health for the past 18 months.

On March 22, 1915, he married the former Anna Chouinard in Ironwood.

Surviving along with his wife are two sons, Eugene and Clyde, Ironwood; one brother, Arthur, Los Angeles, Calif., and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 9 a.m. Monday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Friends may call at the McKevitt-Kersh beginning Sunday morning. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Riverside Cemetery. He is buried in Block 10 which may be a potter's field.
