DEATHS - In this town [Amherst NH], 27th ult., Mrs. Rebecca Wentworth Spalding, wife of Matthias Spalding, M.D., aged 83 years. Obituary hereafter. [The Farmers' Cabinet, 1 Jan 1863, page 3]

Obituary. MRS. REBECCA WENTWORTH SPALDING, lately deceased, in this village, was a daughter and the fourth child of Joshua and Abigail Atherton - a name well known in the history of the town and State. Mrs. Spalding was born in Amherst, August 29, 1778, and died Dec. 27, 1862, in her 85th year. On the 26th of September 1806, she was married to Dr. Matthias Spalding. Her Children were eight in number, of whom three only survive - Dr. Edward, of Nashua, Abigail, wife of the Rev. J.G. Davis, of Amherst, N.H., and Dr. Alfred, of Greenupsburg, Kentucky. Her husband - the venerable Dr. Spalding - remains, tetaining at the age of nearly ninety-four years, a great measure both of physical and mental vigor. ....
