Aileen Lou Schultz Atkinson, 61, of Dunbar, formerly of South Charleston, departed from us on Monday, June 27, 2011, to go home to be with the Lord at CAMC Memorial Hospital after a long illness that she fought so hard to overcome. God saw that you were tired and decided to take you home. Aileen was a lifelong resident of Kanawha County. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin and grammy. She was a wonderful, strong person and this is how she would want to be remembered by all. She was preceded in death by her father, Oscar Russell Schultz; her mother, Junie Irene Clark Schultz, who was also a lifelong resident of Kanawha County; and her dearly missed husband, Rickey Warren Atkinson of South Charleston; along with her grandparents and the many others who went before her and who she is reunited with again. Aileen is survived by her children, Karen Atkinson Sands of Charleston and Katie Atkinson, also of Charleston; her grandchildren, Wyatt, Alyssa, Savannah, Emily, Sara and Matt, who are also of Charleston, and Hannah of Boone County; and her sisters, Carol Barger of Titusville, Fla., Gloria Johnson of Alabama, Elise Garrett of St. Albans, Judy Ball of Mineral Wells and Marlene Lacy of New Baltimore, Mich. Aileen is the twin of Marlene Lacy. She is also survived by many, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and many cousins. All of us have a special place in our hearts for her. Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a teardrop. She was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by many of whose hearts she touched. There are special thanks to all of the nurses and doctors who took care of her in her time of need with her battle. Her cremains will be laid to rest in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, near her beloved husband.
