Elizabeth A. Allman, 93, of Winchester and formerly of Roodhouse passed away March 11, 2006 at the Scott County Nursing Center. She was born June 8, 1912 in Husser, Louisiana the daughter of the late Fred L. and Effie Gough Atwell. She married French D. Allman April 30, 1940 in Jasper County, Mississippi. He preceded her in death March 25, 1981. Also preceding her was a brother Fred Atwell Jr.

Mrs. Allman grew up in Shubuta, Mississippi where she graduated from Shubuta High School in 1930. She graduated from Mississippi University for Women, in Columbus, MS in 1934 with a degree in elementary education. She taught school in Mississippi until her marriage. She was a member of the MUW Alumnae Association, AAUW, Chapter EK, PEO Sisterhood, Scott County Homemakers Extension, Scott County Historical Society, and First Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess, Pianist and Adult Sunday School Teacher. Through out her life she encouraged young women to seek a college education.

Survivors include her daughter Merrilyn (husband Elmer) Fedder of Winchester, and 2 grandchildren; Sarah (husband Michael) Uchic of Centerville, Ohio, and Dr. Andrew A. Fedder of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
