Cloie B. Atwell Allen, 87 of Cool Ridge went home to be with the Lord, Monday, September 15, 2008 at 8:15 A.M. at her home following a long illness.
Born July 4, 1921 in Mercer Co., she was the daughter of the late Alex and Katherine Ryan Atwell.
Mrs. Allen was a Christian and attended Cool Ridge Community Church when she was able, she lived most of her life at Cool Ridge.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Emery Allen, one son; Jerry Allen, two sons-in-law; Bobby Birchwell and Barry Plumley, one grandson; James Birchwell, one grandson-in-law, Jack DuFour, one step-great grandson, David DuFour, Two brothers, Carl and William Atwell and one brother-in-law; George Noyes.
Survived by one son; Roger Allen and wife Sharon of Cool Ridge, four daughters; Mary Cochran and husband Virgil of Cool Ridge, Linda Taylor and husband James of Daniels, Betty Birchfield of East Setauket, NY and Nedra Plumley of Old Fort, NC, one brother; Earnest Atwell and wife Audrey of Pence Springs, one sister; Pearl Noyes of Oak Hill, sixteen grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren and three step great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Ron Browning officiating.
Burial will follow in the Clayton Baptist Church Cemetery at Clayton. Friends may call at the funeral parlors from 6-9 P.M. on Thursday. Her Granddaughters will serve as pallbearers.
