Bruce "Aub" Green Sr., 88, of Shobonier, died at 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Pinhook Cemetery in Shobonier, with the Rev. Viktoria Halmagyi officiating. Military rights will be accorded at graveside by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia.

Memorials: St. James Lutheran Church of Vandalia.

Mr. Green was born on Feb. 3, 1922, in Vandalia, the son of Albert and Ruth Heckthorn Green. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and was a carpenter. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Vandalia Carpenters Union No. 634 and Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95.

He was married to Mildred Hanson on Nov. 18, 1944.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Guy Green; sister, Annette Green; and four grandchildren.

He is survived by daughters, Patricia "Pat" Dunbar of Springfield, Ill., Eileen Edwards of Knob Noster, Mo., and Margaret Krajeski of Bakersville, Calif.; sons, Edward Green and his wife Cathy of Vandalia, and Bruce Green Jr. and his wife Paula of Shobonier; sister, Marilee Heywood of Terre Haute, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
