The funeral of Mr. John Auchincloss, who died at Quebec on the 26th of Jun 1876, took place 30 Jun 1876. After a prayer offered by Rev. Dr. Thayer at the former residence of the deceased merchant, his body was conveyed to the Presbyterian Church, Fifth Avenue and Fifty-fifth street, where funeral services were conducted by Rev. Dr. John Hall. The pall-bearers were John Steward, Samuel Sloan, Jacob D. Vermilye, Benjamin B. Sherman, Thomas A. Cummins, William C. Kent. William B. Bleecker, and Monriff Mitchell. The remains were taken to Woodlawn Cemetery.
