Norbert C. Auden, Kaukauna, age 80, died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 20, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Norbert was born in Kaukauna on May 21, 1926, to the late George and Eva (Killian) Auden. He proudly served in the Army at Pearl Harbor from 1944-1945. Norbert married Frances Vanden Hogen at Holy Name Parish on October 27, 1951. He retired from the Thilmany Mill in 1988, and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Norbert was a member of St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish in Kaukauna. He enjoyed the outdoors, spending a great amount of time gardening with his brother, walking and collecting hickory nuts. A proud grandfather, Norbert loved attending all activities that his grandchildren were involved in.

Norbert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances; four children: Dan (Paula) of Ball Ground, Georgia; Al of Kaukauna; Don (Alison) of Appleton; and Lynn (Rob) Mlodzik of Appleton; eight grandchildren: Jennifer (fiancé Chris), Sara, Alex and Emma Auden, Sam, Tommy, Michael and Katie Mlodzik; his brother, Les Auden; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Mary (Ralph) Braun, Marty (Beulah) Vanden Hogen, Anne McKitrick, Wilma Killian, Bernie (Flo) Vanden Hogen, Pat (Jerry) Kunstman, Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen, Rose (Jerry) Ver Haagh. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Norbert was preceded in death by his son, Ron; his brothers and sisters: Wilbert, Genevieve and Agnes Auden and Romaine Ver Haagh; his father and mother-in-law, William and Antoinette Vanden Hogen; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Jean Auden, Dick Killian, George Vanden Hogen, Little Marty Vanden Hogen, Katie (Jack) Ver Voort, Terry (Barney) Managan and Joe Vanden Hogen.

The Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish, Kaukauna. Norbert's brother-in-law, the Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen will officiate. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Kaukauna Post No. 3319 will present the flag immediately following Mass. Friends may call Wednesday, after 9 a.m., until the time of Mass directly at church. Committal St. Mary's Cemetery, Kaukauna. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
