U.S. Congressman. Moving to New Jersey in 1887, he later was engaged in the real estate business. He was a member of the West New York town council, (1899-1902), a member and president of the board of education, (1903-04) and a member of the New Jersey State House of Assembly, (1908-11). In addition he served on the board of assessors of West New York, (1912-13), was Mayor of West New York, (1914-17) and director of the Board of Chosen Freeholders Hudson County, (1915-24). In 1925, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-ninth Congress and to the next four succeeding Congresses, serving until 1935. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the real estate and insurance business until his death at age 70.
