WEST BOYLSTON - Marine Cpl. Alan R. Auger, 22, of West Boylston, died Saturday in Saudi Arabia after he was struck Friday by a jack handle on a truck trailer he was working on.
He leaves his wife, Teresa M. (Mitchell) Auger; a daughter, Stephanie L. Auger of West Boylston; a brother, Armand Auger of Portland, Conn.; and his mother, Lois J. (Arnold) Auger of Worcester. He was born in Worcester, and lived there before moving to West Boylston three years ago. His father, Armand G. Auger, died in 1981.
Cpl. Auger was a member of the 6th Transport Co., 6th Motor Transport Battalion, 4th Force Service Support Group, 4th Marine Division, which has headquarters in Providence, R.I. He was called to active duty in December.
Before being called up, he was a mechanic and a wrecker driver for W.C. Cranston & Sons Co. in West Boylston.
The funeral will be held Saturday from Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St., Worcester, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St Christopher's Church, 950 West Boylston St., Worcester. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours at the funeral home are 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made instead to the memorial fund for Teresa and Stephanie Auger, in care of Shawmut Bank, 460 West Boylston St., Worcester.
