Acton, Dorothy C., died at age 69 after a 28 year bout with ovarian cancer that migrated to the bones. Richard W. Acton, her husband of 30 years, preceded her in death Sept. 27, 2003. She was born Dorothy Augustine in Gladwin, MI, to Margaret and Clarence Augustine. She grew up in Midland, MI. Her father survives her. Dorothy was a high school teacher in Michigan and Wisconsin 1960-1967, and at Santa Ana High School (CA) until 1974. She worked as a realtor in the Tustin/Orange area from 1990-2006. She lived in Orange County since 1967. She is survived by siblings, Mary Augustine, of Rhodes, MI; Deb LaFramboise, of Midland, MI; Dave Augustine, of Rhodes, MI; Kathy Burlingame, of Rhodes, MI; Marilyn Greene, of Midland, MI; Sharon Szymarek, of Manistee, MI; Ken Augustine, Beaverton, of MI; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Lucia Sprague, of St. Louis, MO; step-daughters, Julie Turner, of Cathedral City, CA, Martie Acton, of Anaheim, CA and best friend and caregiver, Mary Luby, of La Habra, CA. She was preceded in death by siblings, Barbara, William and Lester, her mother, Margaret, and best friend, Fran Lambert. Dorothy researched and published two books on her family's genealogy, wrote poetry, and started an international internet support group for an inherited corneal eye disease. The group grew into a non-profit called The Corneal Dystrophy Foundation. The Foundation has supplied support and information to thousands of people and medical professionals who deal with Fuchs' Corneal Dystrophy. Interment was private at Westminster Memorial Park.
