Opal M. Achenbach, 93, of Oklahoma City, Okla., formerly of Vinton, died Monday, March 31, 2008, at Integris South West Medical Center in Oklahoma City after an extended illness.

Opal was born Nov. 25, 1914, in Cedar Rapids, to Ralph and Laura (Clark) Averill.

She graduated from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids.

On Aug. 4, 1931, she married Lloyd J. Achenbach at Rock Island, Ill.

Opal enjoyed gardening but her greatest joy in life was her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Linda Northland and Judy Achenbach; two brothers, Earl and Bill DeNio; and one sister, Bernice Strait.
