Ernest Averill died yesterday in his home in International Falls at the age of 77 after an illness of many months due to a stroke.
He was born Nov. 9, 1879 in Arlington, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Averill.
He was married to May Pierce in Arlington in 1900. She preceded him in death in 1922. In 1936 he married Viola Christenson in Albert Lea. They have lived in International Falls since 1943.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Charles (Zella) Schwantz, Albert Lea, Mrs. L. E. (Mildred) Sathre, Austin, Mrs. Glenn (Garnet) Nelson and Mrs. Vernon (Wyone) Kirsch, both of St. Paul, three sons, Erwin and Theodore of International Falls and Earl of Lewiston, Idaho, 29 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Irve Averill, his twin, of St. Paul and William Averill of Arlington, Iowa, and many nieces and npehews (sic) also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and four brothers.
Burial will be in Montevideo.
